I appreciate beyond words the effort of some BOF member who scanned the BOF Express a few years ago.

On a whim and because I have some pictures of Wee Willie, I put out a search for Wee Willie, the aircraft my dad flew with his crew and others on the return to the U.S. after the war. I was flabbergasted by what I found. Other crews flew Wee Willie during combat and I hope they or their children/grandchildren discovered that Wee Willie was featured in a painting by the well respected artist, William S. Phillips.

Below is an email and pictures sent to the BOFQE editor on April 2nd, 2009
From my father's diary, I know the Comingore crew flew 334K (K-Patches) until it was shot down by the British in a case of mistaken identity...with the loss of 8 of the 10 Reed Crew. The Comingore Crew was then assigned to 598Z which they flew on most of their missions.
Dan Comingore and Crew was assigned to fly Wee Willie, SN 44-50600, back to the states after the war.

I have several pictures of Wee Willie which must have been taken during the return to the States in May of 1945. If any crew members or relatives connected with Wee Willie would like a copy of my pictures, I would be most happy to send the few I have via e-mail.
